Minicraft/Hasegawa #100
Let's kick off again with a kit released in 1978!
We are talking about the Minicraft/Hasegawa "General Dynamics F-16A" kit, catalog number 100.
This kit is based on one of the first 1:32 F-16 kit released, Hasegawa JS-100 from 1977, and it promptly received the "Model of the Year" Scale Modeler magazine award.
Due to the mixture of raised and engraved panel lines, and much more, it is more detailed than the Revell kit of the same scale.
The two-piece canopy has the correct bubble cross-section shape, and enables you to have it build in both open and closed position. When having it in the open position, a nice detailed cockpit can be seen.
The radome can be positined open to reveal the APG-66 radar and the gun bay can be shown open to show the M-61 gun. The intake trunking goes all the way back to the turbine inlet.
Out of the box this kit represents the F-16A FSD model and includes the correct STENCEL III ejection seat. A seated pilot figure is also included.
The external stores include:
- 2x AIM-7
- 4x AIM-9
- 12x Mk82
- 2x wing fuel tank
- 1x centerline fuel tank
The kit includes a decal sheet, printed by Scale-Master, which provides 3 markings.
- General Dynamics F-16A FSD 75-0745 "50745", 6516 TS, 6510 TW, USAF, with the international F-16 customers flags, including the Iranian flag.
- General Dynamics F-16A FSD 75-0746 "50746", 6516 TS, 6510 TW, USAF
- General Dynamics F-16A FSD 75-0747 "50747", 6516 TS, 6510 TW, USAF
It is one of the few kits that will include the Iranian flag on within the decal options.
If you want to represent a F-16 FSD model, this is a kit to remember.
